Privacy Policy
No analytics, no tracking pixels, no data sold to anyone. Here is exactly what we collect and why.
Last updated
This policy explains what personal information Lakeshore Clean Co. collects through this website, why we collect it, who else handles it, and what you can do about it. It is written to meet our obligations under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Ontario's Consumer Protection Act.
1.Who we are
Lakeshore Clean Co. is a cleaning company serving Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area, at 5000 Yonge Street, Toronto, ON M2N 7G9. We are responsible for the personal information described here.
Questions about this policy, or about information we hold on you, go to our Privacy Officer at hello@lakeshoreclean.ca or (647) 495-0231. That person is accountable for our PIPEDA compliance.
2.What we collect, and why
We ask only for what a cleaning job actually requires. Nothing on this site asks you to create an account or set a password. By filling in a form you consent to us using that information for the purpose of the form — a quote, a reply, or a booked visit.
| What we collect | Why we need it |
|---|---|
| Your name, email address and — if you give it — your phone number | To send you the quote or reply you asked for, and to reach you about a booked visit. |
| Details about your property: service type, property type, bedrooms and bathrooms or approximate floor area, how often you want us, your area of the GTA, and any add-ons | To calculate your price. These are the only inputs our quote engine uses. |
| Your service address and any access instructions — at the point of booking only | To send a crew to the right place and to follow the access arrangement you chose. |
| Anything you type into a message or notes field | To answer your question, or to brief the crew before the visit. |
| Your chosen date and arrival window | To hold the slot and schedule the visit. |
| Your IP address | To rate-limit our public forms and keep basic security logs. It is not used to identify you or build a profile. |
We do not ask for information we have no use for, and you should not send it to us — that includes health information, government identifiers, and any financial detail other than the payment method you give directly to Stripe. If you mention an allergy or a pet so we can adjust the clean, we use that only to brief the crew.
We do not photograph the interior of your property unless you have asked us to, for example to document a concern.
3.Payment information
Card details are entered on Stripe's own hosted checkout page, never on this website. Full card numbers do not reach our servers, and we could not retrieve them if we wanted to.
- When you book, Stripe charges the quoted estimate and saves your card. Full card numbers do not reach our servers.
- If we need to adjust the price after seeing the property, we tell you first, then charge or refund the difference on the saved card — and only if you agree to go ahead.
- On a recurring plan, the first visit is charged at checkout and later visits run as a Stripe subscription.
- Invoices, refunds, updating a card and cancelling a plan are all handled inside Stripe's own secure portal.
4.What we do not do
- We use no analytics, no advertising pixels and no session recording. There is no Google Analytics and no Meta pixel on this site.
- Our fonts are served from our own domain, so loading a page here sends no request to Google or any other font host.
- We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information, and we never will.
- We do not use your information to profile you or to advertise to you anywhere else.
- The only automated decision on this site is the quote itself, which is calculated from the details you typed. A person can always override it.
5.Cookies
This site sets no advertising or analytics cookies. There is no consent banner because there is nothing to consent to.
- Staff sign-in: our admin area sets one session cookie. It is httpOnly and SameSite=Strict, so no script can read it and it is never sent from another site. It lasts 12 hours. Customers never receive it.
- Customer portal: your account link carries a signed token instead of setting a cookie. It identifies you for 30 days and then stops working. It is signed rather than encrypted, and carries only a customer reference and an expiry date. You can request a new link from the Sign in page using the email you booked with.
Treat your portal link like a password: anyone holding it can see your bookings until it expires.
6.Emails we send you
The emails we send are about a quote, a booking or a message you started — confirmations, sign-in links, replies, and a notice if a recurring payment fails. Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) treats those as transactional, not marketing.
We do not add you to a newsletter. If we ever send you anything promotional we will say so, send it only with consent, and include a way to opt out.
7.Who else handles your information
We use three service providers to run this site. Each receives only what it needs to do its job, and each handles it under its own privacy policy.
| Provider | What it handles |
|---|---|
| Stripe | Payments, saved cards, subscriptions and invoices. |
| Resend | Delivery of quote emails, booking confirmations and our replies to you. |
| Cloudflare | Website hosting, the bookings database, and security and rate-limiting protection. |
Beyond these, we disclose personal information only where the law requires it — for example under a valid court order — or where you have asked us to. We do not subcontract cleaners, so your address is not handed to a third-party crew.
8.Where your information is stored
Cloudflare, Stripe and Resend all operate internationally, so your information may be stored or processed on servers outside Canada, including in the United States. While it is in another country it is subject to that country's laws, and may be accessible to courts and law enforcement there under a lawful request.
We tell you this because PIPEDA requires it, and because it is something you are entitled to know before you decide to book.
9.How long we keep it
- Quote requests and contact messages reach us as email. We keep that correspondence for 24 months and then delete it.
- Booking and customer records live in our database. Because they are records of a sale, Canadian tax rules require us to keep them for 6 years from the end of the tax year they relate to.
- A booking you start but never pay for is cancelled automatically after one hour, which releases the slot.
- Your portal access link expires 30 days after it is issued. Requesting a new one from Sign in sends a fresh link to the email on the booking.
- IP addresses in our security logs are dropped after 90 days.
- Stripe and Resend keep their own copies under their own retention rules. Deleting a record on our side does not always delete the copy they hold in order to run payments or deliver mail.
10.Your rights
Under PIPEDA you can ask us to:
- Tell you what personal information we hold about you, and give you a copy of it.
- Correct anything that is wrong or incomplete.
- Stop using your information, subject to legal and contractual limits — we cannot clean a home without an address, and we cannot delete records that tax law requires us to keep.
- Delete information we no longer need.
Write to hello@lakeshoreclean.ca. We may ask you to confirm who you are before we release a copy, so we do not hand it to the wrong person. We will respond within 30 days, which is the period PIPEDA sets, and there is no charge for asking.
If our answer does not satisfy you, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca, or by phone on 1-800-282-1376.
11.How we protect it
- The entire site is served over HTTPS.
- Card details never touch our servers — see Payment information above.
- Portal links and staff sessions are cryptographically signed and expire.
- Our public forms are rate-limited to resist abuse.
- Access to booking records is limited to the people who need it to schedule and complete your clean.
No system is perfectly secure. If a breach ever creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we will notify you and the Privacy Commissioner, as PIPEDA requires.
12.Children
This service is for adults arranging cleaning for a property they own, rent or manage. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
13.Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle personal information, we will update this page and change the date at the top. We will flag material changes on the site rather than leave you to spot them. A change does not apply to information we already hold unless the law requires it or you agree.
